Abstract

Background. Nitrites and nitrates have an ever-increasing adverse effect on the human body due to their excessive use in agriculture, medicine and everyday life. Various aspects of the variety of manifestations of acute nitrite poisoning of the body are studied. Little-studied changes in the microvasculature (MCB) of vital organs such as the brain, kidneys, mesentery of the small intestine.
Material and methods. A model of acute nitrite intoxication was reproduced on 60 white mongrel rats of both sexes weighing 180–200 g [1]. In the experimental group (45), sodium nitrite was orally administered to animals under anesthesia (ketamine – 25 mg / g) at the rate of 10 mg / g body weight. At the height of acute poisoning through 180' animals were killed by decapitation. In the experimental and intact groups, total fragments of the dura mater of the brain (DMB), the fibrous capsule of the kidney (FCK) and the mesentery of the small intestine (MSI) after fixation in 12 % neutral formalin were impregnated with silver according to V.V. Kupriyanov (1969). A morphometric and morphological analysis of the MСB of these objects was performed.
Results. At the height of nitrite intoxication, vascular, intravascular and extravascular signs of pathological restructuring of the MCB in the form of vasodilation, contour deformity and angioarchitectonics of microvascular tortuosity, stasis, aggregation of blood elements, which are maximally expressed by body clots, are found in all study objects of the same type.
